The other day, while driving for what seemed like a lifetime through the mountains to go vet check a new horse in CA, my friend hit her breaking point and simply declared, "I'm done participating in today." Not really knowing what to say, or what that meant-- how does one stop participating in a day? As you might imagine my mind ran wild with images of throwing oneself from the moving vehicle, willing oneself to simply drop dead, and a few other relatively awkward scenarios-- I just sort of burst out laughing. Obviously, despite the impossibility of it (barring any dire actions anyway), there are just some days that I think we'd all like to simply 'stop participating in.' Sadly, as that's not usually an option, I generally find that I myself end up resorting to petulant sulking with the occasional stream of obscenities. I should probably work on that...

Hi Gypsy! I just saw your comment. that is absolutely hilarious! I mean horrible in the moment, but quite amusing after the fact. ;) What a smart little beastlet.

I went to a lovely horse show this weekend with my Green bean pony. To make a long story short we were in the warm up waiting for our class for 40 minutes (Some one much higher on the ladder requested the hold so they could do their dressage class)

My pony said she had enough and tried to go out the gate.. I politely declined her invite to go out.. and she promptly went past the gate and LAID DOWN. Just folded her little feet and laid down.

She waited until I gracefully dismounted (there was actual applause for my dismount) and she got up and trotted to the nearest group of horses.
