As my youngest sister soon learned,entering a field with a pony and a bag of carrots is a sure recipe for disaster.

I believe that ponies are the equine equivalent of used car salesmen; you think you’re getting the deal of a lifetime until you get home and then you realize you’ve mostly been taken for a ride (usually through a manure filled back pasture and over a few barbed wire fences along the way).
