I give her an 8 for pyrotechnics. This just shows why showing a horse “at liberty” after giving a lengthy and “majikal” speech about the mystical connection between man and beast is really only asking for the equine gods that be to smite you. For those that are curious, this demonstration actually took place at a recognized dressage show (which somehow increases the humor factor for me). While I usually find at liberty work relatively boring, perhaps because I’m not a huge fan of letting my own horse tear around an arena to show his trust and dedication to me, I do give bonus points to the rider for trying to increase the “wow” factor by using lit tiki torches; that was brilliance on many levels.
