The Idea of Order

You know it’s Winter When…

AKA You know it’s time to move back south when…
No matter how much I resist, kick, scream, and complain, somehow winter still comes. Jerk. It’s only just December but I can fully assure you I am ready for June. I seriously think next year I need to plan on a month in Florida (so any of you down near Wellington hit me up!) 😉

Small Predators are easily chilled…

At least this one is.
I feel like this is what my horse is saying to me every time I go to throw yet another blanket on him. Of course I’m fairly certain that nine times out of ten I blanket him according to how cold I feel instead of what’s likely more appropriate for a 1200lb hairball. This tendency is of course exacerbated by the fact that I’m from Florida (a land free of this Winter bogusness) and think anything below 70 is uncivilized.

How I feel every time I pull my clipped horse’s banket off to groom and ride…

Poor schmuck has every right to buck me off when I have him running around naked at 7 a.m. in the 15 degree weather.
So as much as I loathe body clipping, I agree that for working horses it’s somewhat of a necessity (especially for mine that grow coats like yaks). However, that still doesn’t make me feel less awful when I first pull their blankets off to groom when it’s freezing out.
